Deck Sheets at a Glance

A deck sheet is a roll-formed galvanized steel profile with ribs and surface embossments, rolled out across floor beams before concrete is poured. It replaces the timber or plywood shuttering used in conventional slab construction and, once the concrete has cured around its ribs, becomes a bonded part of the finished floor — sharing the tensile load with the slab above it.

A deck sheet earns its place on a project in two distinct stages of the same pour — first as formwork, then as reinforcement.

Fixed as Formwork

Sheets are rolled out and fixed across the floor beams, forming a continuous ribbed surface that holds wet concrete and reinforcement in place — no timber shuttering or shoring is needed underneath.

Doubles as a Work Platform

Once fixed, the sheet is strong enough to walk and work on, letting crews fix reinforcement mesh and place concrete directly on the deck.

Becomes Permanent Reinforcement

As the concrete cures, it bonds to the ribs and embossments on the sheet. The steel and concrete then act together as a composite slab, with the sheet remaining in place permanently.
